When Feelings of Defeat Stay Longer Than Expected.

It has been a while since my last blog. Frankly, I felt as though my minuscule attempt to highlight issues that affect the Black community needed to take a backseat to the current state of the culture. The death of George Floyd, Philando Castile, and Breanna Taylor, to name a few of many unarmed Black people killed in our American cities by officers sworn to protect us, has me feeling somewhat somber. When I think about the Emanuel 9 and Central Park 5 as constant reminders of how Black people are devalued in this country, it is difficult to stay professional, empathic, and selfless, but I know I must for the many people who depend on me to be the best version of myself. So when I have nothing nice to say, I simply say nothing at all. So I wonder how you deal with disappointment, fear, and uncertainty regarding the 2 Americas in which we live?
